Want to Add a Trending Color to Your Home?
Sometimes, one of the challenging things about color is trying to find the right one. At Blinds & Designs serving the greater San Francisco area, we know that our customers can get intimidated by color. But they don’t have to. Inspiration can come from a variety of things. That’s why we enjoy learning about each year’s Color of the Year, as selected by the experts at the Pantone Color Institute. Even if the year’s trending color isn’t what you might ultimately choose, it could inspire you to find the one you love. Read on to meet this year’s color and perhaps find the one for your home.
A Color Like the Sky at Dusk
Classic Blue is the Pantone Color of the Year for 2020. “It’s a color that anticipates what’s going to happen next,” said Laurie Pressman, the vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “What’s the future going to bring as we move into the evening hours?” The color offers the confidence, reassurance, and connection that people are searching for in a year marked by instability around the globe. You can add Classic Blue to your home in little bits or in large swaths. For example:
- Go Bold with wallpaper or paint on the walls and ceilings
- Add Dimension with window treatments, furniture, bedding, and flooring
- Add Accent Color with throw pillows, area rugs, lamps, artwork, and vases
Hunter Douglas Window Coverings
You can find Classic Blue in several Hunter Douglas collections, including Designer Banded Shades, Design Studio Draperies and Drapery Panels, Solera® Soft Shades, roller shades, Modern Precious® Metals aluminum blinds, and more. Let us help you find the right window treatment to complement your décor.
Choosing the Color
Each year, the Pantone Color Institute predicts what will be the trending color for the year. Pantone’s color of the year often sets the stage for trends in fashion, window treatments, wall coverings, and interior design. Selecting the Color of the Year takes approximately nine months. The staff at PANTONE explores a variety of industries to collect what they refer to as “proof points.” They review the latest from the auto industry, designer runways, and interior decorating showcases. Once they identify the trends, they narrow down the choices. “The Pantone Color of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today,” noted Laurie Pressman
