Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ Shutters

Many homes have door-window combinations, whether the window is part of the door, above it, or beside it. And because it’s still a window, no matter where it’s located, it could likely still use a treatment, like the other windows in a home. At Blinds & Designs serving the greater Marin County area, we’re more than happy to help you determine which treatment works best for your window-door combo—or for any window in your home. The Many Door-Window Combos

No matter the home, windows lend great architectural styling, if for the addition of the natural light alone. Yet covering them could be important—after all, the UV rays can enter them, the light could be too intense or bright, or you might want to add some privacy. Here are some of the issues you might find:

  • French Doors. Some good options for a French Door include the NewStyle® Hybrid Shutter and Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ Shutters (which are made of faux wood, which is resistant to warping, cracking, fading, chipping, peeling, and discoloration, no matter the level of heat or moisture at the window). If you prefer soft treatments, consider Vignette® Modern Roman Shades, which can lie flat behind the door handles, or roller shades, which lie flush against the glass.
  • Sliding Glass Doors. Sliders often work well with a vertically oriented treatment, such as Skyline® Gliding Window Panels, which offer a contemporary look and come in numerous fabrics and color options. You can also consider Duette® Honeycomb Shades with the vertically oriented Vertiglide™ operating system. If the slider is heavily used, consider using shutters, which are extremely durable.
  • Front Doors. The tall and narrow windows beside a front door work well with cellular shades, blinds, shutters, and vertical sheers such as Luminette® Privacy Sheers. For a specialty shape like an arch above the door, consider cellular shades with the Hunter Douglas EasyView® Arch, which can raise and lower instead of being stationary. For a window that’s part of the door, a good choice is Duette® Honeycomb Shades.
