If your throw pillows seem drab and listless, don’t worry! You can get new life from them by simply buying or making new covers for them. Your throw pillows can make an exceptional change to your room’s look you add fringe, change up a pattern, or introduce a new color.
Area Rug
A quick way to create a new feel for a space is by adding an area rug. No matter if it’s colorful, textured, fluffy, or traditional, it will make the space warmer and more inviting. Use the rug to define a specific area, make a conversation zone cozier, or coordinate a look.
Furniture
You don’t have to get new furniture to change the look of the room—just rearrange the pieces you have! How the room appears can be greatly impacted by a new layout, including a new traffic flow or an area carved out for a specific purpose (who doesn’t love a reading nook?). You might be surprised at what you can accomplish!
Natural Touches
Adding houseplants to a space will bring in a sense of nature, add a splash of color, and tie together an entire look. Plus, you’ll make your room look and feel more inviting, while elevating the tone of the space. Place them on tables or bookshelves, or find a corner to add some hanging plants. Or go all out and create a living wall with hanging planters!
Accent Colors
Increase the drama in the room by coordinating your accent colors. Consider the drapery, side panels, or curtains, as well as throw blankets, artwork, and area rugs as you create your intentional color palette. If the space has a predominantly neutral color, consider using a bold, bright color for the accent.
Drapery Can Resize the Room
Your room’s appearance can change based on how you mount your drapery. If the rod is close to the ceiling, the room will appear taller. If the rod’s mounting brackets are four to six inches outside of the window frame, you can fully open the drapery, which will make the window seem wider. Be aware that, if the drapery appears too short, it will minimize the space. Longer drapery (breaking just above the floor or puddling on the ground) will elongate a room. Plus, consider adding a valance to add height and draw the eye upward. To get some ideas on how best to use drapery in your home, be sure to speak with one of our consultants today!
