17-1230 Mocha Mousse

All about comfort and with tones reminiscent of the simple pleasures of both chocolate and coffee, this color is called a “warming brown hue imbued with richness.” Leatrice Eastman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, notes that the color is “sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic” and that it “expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence.” She also says that it “extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.” The Pantone Color Institute reports that, “With a subtle elegance and sensorial richness…Mocha Mousse empowers you to create moments of luxury that may be intimate in scale but can extend a sense of indulgence throughout the day.” Furthermore, with its “earthy refinement,” Mocha Mousse presents a versatile foundation that is easily complemented with floral colors like violet, rose tan, and willow green, as well as earthy tones like cream, tan, and amber.

Using Mocha Mousse in Your Space

You can bring the color of the year into your interior design in a number of ways:

  • Add pops of it in accents like throw pillows, throw rugs, and wall décor.
  • Go bolder by painting walls and/or ceilings with the hue.
  • Add dimension with window fashions, either in a matching color or a complementary one. Great options from Hunter Douglas include Designer Roller Shades, screen shades, Vignette® Modern Roman Shades, and Sonnette® Cellular Roller Shades. Or you can layer your windows by adding side panels or drapery to already existing window fashion to add drama to the space.
