2022 Pantone® Color of the Year

2022 Pantone Color of the Year

At Blinds & Designs serving Marin County, we’re frequently asked about color and how to best choose a color for a home. While color is subjective and truly to the taste of the observer, it can also be daunting—there are so many out there! However, one way to choose color can be to understand what’s trending, and that includes by looking at the Pantone Color Institute’s choice for Color of the Year. Read on to meet the 2022 selection!

This Year’s Trending Color

“The Pantone Color of the Year reflects what is taking place in our global culture, expressing what people are looking for that color can hope to answer,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “The Pantone Color of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today,” Pressman also noted. To respond to that, this year, Pantone has designed a new color, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri, which is a red violet-infused blue hue. Sprightly, joyous, and dynamic, the Pantone Color Institute says that Very Peri “brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family” and that it “places the future ahead in a new light.”

The Color of the Year Requires Thoughtful Consideration and Trend Analysis

To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s color experts at the Pantone Color Institute comb the world looking for new color inspirations. This may include new artists, fashion, all areas of design, and popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles and socio-economic conditions. Influences may also stem from new materials, textures, technologies, and effects that impact color.

Adding Very Peri to Your Space

You might already be signs of this color all around you, in anything from décor to kitchenware to clothing. If Very Peri speaks to you, you might want to add it to one or more areas in your home. Consider painting a wall or two or adding décor or accessories to the room. Also look to window fashions, where you can add hints of the color or something that will complement and highlight it.
