Choosing Window Shades
At Blinds & Designs in Marin County, many of our customers ask about the choices in shades. There are many great options out there—one is the versatile honeycomb shade. If you’re interested in learning whether honeycomb shades would be right for you, speak with one of our trained consultants. We’ll be happy to help you understand the benefits.
Honeycomb Shades
Honeycomb shades are cellular shades with a unique “honeycomb within a honeycomb” design. They come in hundreds of colors and textures, in fabrics with opacities from sheer to blackout, and the backing to the outside is always white, which lends a consistent look from the curb. Already a very energy-efficient choice because the pockets within the design trap cool air in the summer and warm air in the winter, honeycomb shades are also available in double or triple cell size for even greater energy efficiency. Operating choices include retractable cord, cordless, and remote control for increased child and pet safety.
Mix and Match Horizontal and Vertical Applications
Hunter Douglas, the leader in window fashions, offers both the standard horizontal honeycomb shade in its Duette® line, which it developed back in the 80s. After listening to consumer feedback clamoring for a complementary vertical solution, Hunter Douglas created Vertiglide™, for which the honeycomb fabric is aligned vertically and placed on a single headrail track. Consumers can now have honeycomb shades on their windows and on their sliding glass doors.
