Hunter Douglas Takes Corporate Responsibility Seriously

Hunter Douglas & Habitat for Humanity

One of the reasons we love Hunter Douglas is that they understand the importance of giving back to the community. They take social responsibility seriously, and that’s something we’re happy to get behind. At Blinds & Designs here in Marin County, we’d love to introduce you to what Hunter Douglas does for the good of others.

A Variety of Recipients

Hunter Douglas recognizes that numerous and diverse places need support. For example, they have given to:

  • Bal Swan Children’s Center
  • Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
  • Care Plus
  • Arbor Day Foundation
  • Minority Athletic Network (MAN)
  • Make A Wish Foundation

Hunter Douglas has also worked with hospitals and healthcare facilities, donating to worldwide health institutions—both monetarily and with window treatments for their patient and exam rooms. Also, when disaster strikes, Hunter Douglas is ready to help. To date, they’ve donated to numerous efforts, including those to help those impacted by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and the floods in Colorado.

Some In-Depth Programs

As well as the list above, other charities have been the focus of Hunter Douglas giving. Here is a more in-depth look at the recipients:

  • Memorial Sloan Kettering. Hunter Douglas recently underwrote a graduate fellowship in breast cancer research, in the hopes that talented students will have breakthroughs in the search for a cure.
  • Habitat for Humanity. For over 25 years, Hunter Douglas has worked with Habitat to help disadvantaged people get housing. So far, Hunter Douglas has donated nearly 300,000 window treatments to low-income families, as well as working hours helping to build new homes.
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities®. Hunter Douglas ran a contest called Shades of Happiness. For it, kids drew pictures that conveyed “happiness” and submitted them for consideration. The winners were printed onto Hunter Douglas shades, which were hung in the Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times dining hall.
