Things to Add to Your Spring Cleaning List

Spring Cleaning

Perhaps being at home has allowed you some time to do more spring cleaning than you might have before. At yet, at Blinds & Designs serving San Francisco and Marin County, we’ve got some thoughts of places to clean that many people often miss. Read on to learn more!

Things to Disinfect

Yes, we’ve all be disinfecting lots of things very frequently these days, but there might be some spots you’ve missed. For example, cutting boards, room humidifiers, and TV remotes. And while you’re on some of the smaller areas, add the computer keyboard to your cleaning list.

Regular Maintenance

If it’s been a while since you last changed the batteries in your smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, take the time to do it now. Do you need to change any filters? From the furnace to the fish tank, if the filter needs a change, be sure to handle it. Now’s also a good time to clean out the gutters and be sure that they’re flowing well, as well as to spend some time with your dryer vent and clear it of dust and lint.

Give Love to Your Windows

Grime can build up on the inside and outside of the glass. If you can access both sides, get them sparkling clean. Now’s also a good time to clean the sills, which tend to go unnoticed. And you can do some maintenance on your window treatments. If you have blinds or shutters, simply dust them with a clean cloth. If your aluminum or faux wood blinds (such as Everwood® Alternative Wood Blinds or Modern Precious Metals® Aluminum Blinds) are particularly grimy, you can remove them and clean them with lukewarm water in a bathtub or sink. Reinstall the treatment while it’s still damp, and lower it to let it completely dry. If you have soft treatments such as Silhouette® Window Shadings, use the brush attachment on your vacuum to take care of the dust. For cellular shades such as Duette® Honeycomb Shades, simply use compressed air to clean them.
